Local Fun

While many small towns depend on a single season of tourism, Ironwood thrives in all seasons.  In the spring and summer, campers, hikers, fishermen, and ATV enthusiasts come through the town to take in the beauty of the Michigan peninsula and Lake Superior.

During the winter, snowmobilers take advantage of the deep snow that drifts down from the lake.  Throughout the year, travelers pass through on their way from one state to another, stopping just long enough to take in the beauty of the woodlands around them.  Ironwood is truly a town for all seasons.

        Ironwood

Ironwood, MI is a beautiful small town located just on the border of Michigan and Wisconsin, along Highways 2, 51, and 77.  Its many stores and both family and chain restaurants cater to the needs of any traveler who passes through.

In the past, Ironwood was an ore mining town.  Now it thrives as a haven for tourists, hikers, and all sorts of outdoor sportsmen.  The town's statue of Hiawatha, the world's tallest and largest Indian, stands at an astonishing 52 feet and weighs over 8 tons.
